In Kirkwall, the main town of the Orkney Islands off the north coast of Scotland, the Kirkwall and St Ola Community Council met on the evening of 6 October 2025, and benches were reported on.

The chair, Lynne Spence, reported that she was continuing to maintain and update, on her own, a spreadsheet of the benches across Kirkwall. How many benches are on it is not recorded in the minutes.

The council's clerk is arranging a meeting with an officer of Orkney Islands Council to discuss how the benches should be maintained. That discussion is to include placing one bench, as a legacy of the Island Games, by the Peedie Sea.

It was also reported that the Criminal Justice Service would soon resume the upkeep of benches, starting with two at Scapa.

The meeting noted all three points.
