請負業者がそのたびに詰まりを取り除いたが、数日でまた詰まった。はじめは造りの欠陥が疑われた。
2025年4月17日、業者がパイプの中にカメラを入れて調べると、大きな石が1つ、詰まっているのが見つかった。
投棄場はいったん閉じられ、掘り返して直すことになった。その間、近くのリーフトン・モーターキャンプが、自前の投棄場を使わせた。この件は、イナンガフア・コミュニティ・ボードの5月13日の議題に、職員の報告として載った。
In Reefton, a town on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island, the waste dump station on The Strand had been blocking for weeks.
A contractor cleared it each time, but within days it blocked again. At first a design fault was suspected.
On 17 April 2025 the contractor put a camera down the pipe and found a single large rock lodged in it.
The station was closed and dug up to be repaired; in the meantime the nearby Reefton Motor Camp let its own dump station be used. The matter was recorded as a staff report in the Inangahua Community Board's agenda of 13 May 2025.
