2025 — In Inage Ward, Chiba, someone said the schoolyard sand blew onto the laundry whenever the wind was strong; the city said it had no date to repave, and would water it until then.

In Inage Ward, in the city of Chiba, a person living near a primary school wrote that on windy days the sand from the schoolyard blew up and settled on windows, cars and the laundry.

The city acknowledged, with apologies, that the school's yard is laid with mountain sand and red clay, which throws up dust when dry.

The city said it was repaving such yards, two or three a year, with a surface that drains and holds water, but that the date for this school was not yet decided.

Until then, it said, it would water the yard thoroughly with sprinklers to keep the dust down.
