June 16, 2026 — Ak-Kolot, the Village That Officially Doesn't Exist

A village of 60 households still has no official administrative status

🇰🇬 Ak-Kolot village, Kara-Kulja District, Osh Region, Kyrgyzstan

Residents of Ak-Kolot village (60 households) in the Kara-Kulja district of Osh region, Kyrgyzstan, told a meeting with the presidential representative that their settlement has no official administrative status.

Without that status, they said, paperwork for the village mosque cannot be completed. Residents noted they pay taxes on schedule like other villages, while the neighboring village of Sary-Bulak has been classified as a high-altitude zone with corresponding tax treatment — a designation Ak-Kolot has not received despite sitting on the sunnier side of the valley.

The official present promised to try to resolve the status issue within two to three months, after which other problems would be addressed one by one. The head of the village council put the settlement's size at 60 households.
